Sitting on a former mine site, Blue Star Golf Course is a mix of cliffs and severe drop-offs. The local Thai design sits between Grand Prix and Blue Sapphire courses and shares many of the same design elements as all three of the courses are on old mining sites.
It’s tough from staring hole to finish. All of the main holes feature large pot bunkers with deep sand. Moreover, fairways edges and greens are severely tapered to make scoring well even more difficult.
Paspalum grass used from tee to green is lush but requires long carries as rolls are uncommon.
The best hole at Blue Star is #6, which is a long par-4 surrounded by five large greenside bunkers. A bogey here could be a good result.
The facilities and caddy service needs to improve as most days locals are the only players.
Overall Blue Star might not be as manicured or stylish as some, but it more than makes up for the shortcomings with extreme golf challenges.
